Hi—I'm Debby Caron, the chief cook and bottlewasher here at the Never-Ending Squirrel Tale headquarters (which is a messy office in a small basement of a 100+-year old prairie house on the High Plains of Montana) (on its best day).

This endeavor began in 1995 as a small tribute to a brave little girl, Morgan, who had already been battling ALL for more than two years. It was my way of contributing to Morgan's family without adding to the already overwhelming pile—and still growing—of stuffed animals, candy, and phone calls they were receiving from the many in their lives who also felt a need to ... do something.

At its peak, The Never-Ending Squirrel Tale grew beyond anything I imagined (in truth, I'm not sure I gave any thought to what might become of my little effort). I kind of crashed and burned a couple years ago. My healthy and vibrant husband of 23 years died suddenly and unexpectedly. While still reeling from that shock, spammers took control of SquirrelTales.com and made it a "spam portal." I don't really know what that means except I personally was receiving THOUSANDS of spams PER HOUR and my web server shut me down. As it turned out, the script I was using to run the very popular Guest Book enabled them (spammers) to do that. Although I gave it several tries over the next couple of years, I couldn't get another guest book program to work. Mike was the brains behind the operation and I just didn't have the umph to learn it all.

I let the site "go to seed" and pressed on with the business of healing. Finally, I had one of those middle-of-the-night inspirations and I had an idea of what to do. By the time I started tapping on my keyboard, I had a plan. I'm still looking for a reliable and secure guestbook program, but in the mean time, I'm working on getting the old articles posted again after cleaning them of all email addresses and stripping off any of the old scripts that might cause more trouble in the future. Thanks to those of you who continued to check in on the site, even though there was no sign of life! I know you're there, because many of you dropped me a line when you saw something happening.

James 5:16 " ... pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective."NIV

To that end, I spend time in prayer each week for the families touched by the Never-Ending Squirrel Tale—it is part of the work I do for God and is the driving force in the effort I put into this site. I hope you find it to be a source of encouragement and hope as well.

Debby
